Business Summary

The Business Summary section may include a variety of information on the business being researched (Name, Address, Phone, FEIN, Alerts, Annual Sales, Employees, SIC, NAIC, Number of Inquiries, Year Started, Years in Business, URLs, etc.)

Alerts provided notices that may indicate differences between the inquiry information and the content returned in the report.

Risk Summary

The Risk Summary section includes the At a Glance Summary of record counts, the Business Delinquency score, the Business Bankruptcy score and any accompanying risk descriptions. In addition, Days Beyond Terms and the Credit Report Summary will appear in this section.

The Business Delinquency Score is designed to predict the likelihood of a business becoming severely delinquent (91 or more days past due, charged-off, or bankrupt) over the next 12 months.

Businesses are grouped into 6 risk classes ranging from 1 (low risk) to 5 (high risk), and 0 indicating a bankruptcy on file.  On the delinquency score graphic display, “0” and “5” both point to “5”.

The Business Bankruptcy Score is designed to predict the likelihood of a business ceasing operations with a loss to creditors within a 12 month period. The system predicts business failure when there is a loss to creditors resulting from either a formal closing (bankruptcy filing) with legal notification or an informal closing without legal notification.

The score has a range of 0 to 3 with zero indicating formal bankruptcy, 1/Red indicating higher risk, 2/Yellow indicating medium risk, and 3/Green indicating low risk. Since this score predicts the probability of failure, it may be combined with the Business Delinquency Score to develop a comprehensive overview encompassing the complete credit risk of a business.

The system is designed to predict both types of cessation of business operations – formal and informal. Formal cessation occurs when the business terminates legally with a loss to creditors, such as receivership or bankruptcy. Informal cessation of business occurs when a business ceases operations abruptly, leaving debt to creditors and without completing legal procedures.

Scores generated by Equifax use all of the tradeline, public records and firmographics in the Equifax Commercial Credit database.

The summary of tradelines is supplied by Equifax and uses all of the tradelines in the database for the legal entity.

Business Profile

The Business Profile section can include Parent Company information, Industry information, Name Variations, Phone Variations, and Address Variations.

Parent Company – where applicable and available, parent company information is shown.  The Source link will open related source records.

Industry Information – SIC (STANDARD INDUSTRIAL CLASSIFICATION)

is a standard series of 4-digit codes that are used to categorize business activities.  The Standard Industrial Classification Codes that appear in a company's disseminated EDGAR filings indicate the company's type of business. These codes are also used in the SEC Division of Corporation Finance as a basis for assigning review responsibility for the company's filings.

LexisNexis updates and maintains this information in its Directory of Corporate Affiliations (DCA).

Name Variations – This Report Segment may contain one or more Name Variations.  Supplied by LexisNexis.

Phone Variations – This Report Segment may contain one or more Telephone Number Variations.  Supplied by LexisNexis.

Address Variations – This Report Segment contains Address Variations, including street or mailing address, city, state, zip code, County and MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area).  Supplied by LexisNexis.

Filings Information

The Filings Information section can include both corporate filings and business registrations.

CORPORATE FILINGS - SECRETARY OF STATE (SOS)

A corporation filing made by a state’s incorporating agency, or secretary of state, or state department of corporations. The filings will indicate what type of entity the business is – for example, whether a business is deemed a corporation, a limited liability corporation, a partnership, a limited partnership, or other type.

This Report Segment may contain one or more Corporate Filings, including the following data elements:

• Company Name - Name of business recorded by the Secretary of State

• Date of Incorporation - Month/Day/Year filing was made.

• State of Incorporation - State in which filing was made

• Charter Number - File number assigned by SOS

• Status of Incorporation - Status of filing request

• Corporation Structure - Business type (INC, LLC, LLC, etc.).

The Corporate Filings segment is supplied by LexisNexis.

BUSINESS REGISTRATIONS or DBA (Doing Business As) Names

Business Registration is also referred to as an assumed name, and is typically completed by making a filing at the county level where the business is located. This filing does not change the official name of the corporation; however, it allows the company to use additional names.

“Doing Business As” may also be referred to as a fictitious business name. This indicates the company is registered to do business within a state but is doing business under an assumed name. Verify the names associated with that business.

This Report Segment may contain one or more Business Registrations with the following data elements:

• Name - Company Name or “Trade style” DBA listed on record

• Mailing Address - Complete Mailing Address Provided from Court Record

• Filing Number - Case Number Issued by Reporting Jurisdiction

• Filing Type - Type of Filing reported by County, Secretary of State, etc.  Varies by Jurisdiction.

• State of Registration - State where Company Registration is filed.

The Business Registrations segment is supplied by LexisNexis.
